ABSTRACT

Low Back Pain (LBP) is a health problem that affects performance in working. Indonesia is a country affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, so a study from the home policy has been issued. This study aimed to determine the association between the factors that affect LBP in Medical Students at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Mataram during the study from home. This study is an observational analytic study design with the cross-sectional approach. The population of this study is Medical Students, Faculty of Medicine, University of Mataram with total sample of 185 people. Collecting data using questionnaires and analyzed using univariate, bivariate, and multivariate analysis. According to univariate analysis, amount of LBP complaints (53 people). Based on bivariate analysis, the p-value of gender factor (0.000);body mass index factor (0.840);social-economy status factor (0.499);sitting position factors (sitting position while studying factor (0.008), sitting location while studying factor (0.046), chair shape while studying factor (0.286), body position while studying factor (0.037), legs position while studying factor (0.339), back support use while studying factor (0.455), table use while studying factor (0.010), elbows position while studying factor (0.627), stretching between study time factor (0.372), duration in each stretch factor (0.389), time range between stretch factor (0.311)), and sitting duration factor (0.011). Based on multivariate analysis, the strength of the association (OR) to LBP are sitting position factor (sitting position while studying factor) (8.232), sitting duration factor (1.956), and gender factor (0.187). The dominant factors to LBP are gender factor, sitting position factor (sitting position while studying factor), and sitting duration factor. The factor that has the strongest association with LBP is sitting position factor (sitting position while studying factor).Copyright Published by Oriental Scientific Publishing Company © 2023.

ABSTRACT

An approach to online laboratory exercises for analytical chemistry students with demonstrated practical exercises through the use of remote-controlled gas chromatography (GC) instrumentation is discussed. The approach allows for a practical-based learning activity to be carried out by students who are unable to attend in-person laboratory exercises and was conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic. Learning activities focused on the operation of GC instrumentation were completed prior to a research-based analysis activity being conducted by students. At the end of this experiment, the students are expected to understand, independently operate, and learn how to achieve better separation through the manipulation of GC settings, such as split/splitless injections, carrier gas flow rate, and oven temperature, and apply principles of GC to a practical application. Additional flexibility from this approach could also be beneficial during postpandemic and/or in the circumstance where students cannot physically attend the class. © 2023 American Chemical Society and Division of Chemical Education, Inc.

ABSTRACT

The COVID-19 pandemic has urged the government of Malaysia to implement Movement Control Order (MCO) which forces working people to work from home while students to study from home. People's satisfaction on work from home is crucial in determining their work productivity and efficiency whereas student's satisfaction on study from home is important for their learning effectiveness. There is no work has been done yet for exploring data mining techniques to build a model for predicting work or study from home satisfaction using Malaysia as a case study. This paper aimed to identify the best data mining model for predicting the work or study from home satisfaction. The prediction model is learned by analyzing the demographic, the personality traits, and the work from home experience collected from a group of Malaysia people. This study attempts to investigate four data mining techniques that are the decision tree, linear kernel support vector machine, polynomial support vector machine, and radial basis support vector machine. Experiment results show that the radial basis support vector machine outperformed other techniques in predicting the work or study from home satisfaction of Malaysia's community. © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

Indonesia's government and some schools, from primary education to higher educational institutions, use online learning or study from home (SFH) to prevent the spread of the corona-19 virus. The study aims to describe the role of motivation and learning style in students performing during Covid-19 pandemic. This study is applied research that focuses on teaching style and motivation to give some alternative solutions on learning methods to accountancies students who do online learning at home. The results of this research show that some participants get weary because of no motivation and learning style due to obstacles at home. Those obstacles are internet network, a less conducive atmosphere to study, learning style change, and less interaction between students and college teachers. In conclusion, future research is expected to explore more deeply other factors related to the condition of SFH and their influence on the level of motivation and student learning styles. © 2022 Alimbudiono et al.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: The Covid-19 pandemic has brought changes to the education system, one of which is the implementation of online learning. This condition makes students like students have to use digital devices, even with a more intense frequency. Therefore, this study aims to determine the level of nomophobia in students as participants in online learning.Methods: This research is descriptive research with a quantitative approach. The study was conducted with a one-time survey (cross-sectional survey). The research was conducted through 3 stages: preparation of the nomophobia measurement instrument, data collection, and measurement of the level of nomophobia. Results: 287 respondents were obtained, then the demographics of the respondents can be grouped by gender, age, internet fund source, and online learning media used. Most of the respondents were female (71%) and teenagers (12-25 years) (99%). In addition, the results show that nomophobia has become a new disease epidemic among students, especially in online learning, that requires an increase in the frequency of smartphone access. There are no respondents who are not nomophobia. The respondents have mild nomophobia (6%), moderate nomophobia (40%), and severe nomophobia (54%).Conclusions: Most of the respondents had a severe level of nomophobia. In addition, the students feel uncomfortable when communicating and accessing information via smartphones or other gadgets, lose connectivity, and cannot use smartphones as desired. Their lives are very dependent on smartphones or other devices. One of the triggers is online learning, where all processes are carried out through digital media. At least students who are not nomophobia also show that nomophobia has proven to be one of the negative impacts that students have to face as participants in online learning.
